HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

31 Oct 2013

http://www.zonaregalo.com/

ITS FINALLY HALLOWEEN!!! WOOHOOOO. PARTY PARTY! I loooove Halloween. It's my favorite holiday for many reasons:

* You get to be a kid all over again by dressing up and go trick or treating (you are never too old for that), what else?

* CANDIES

* Scary stories

* Scary movies (which I love) such as the old classic ones--> Chucky, Jason and Freddy!

* You get to carved pumpkins in whatever expression you want it to be

* You get to scare people and make pranks on them and you don't get to apologize since its acceptable.

* And the halloween parties are awesome!! but usually some people use the excuse of halloween costume to go a bit far off which reminds me...

Some of the movies I'll be watching tonight will probably be:

(sorry for the over supply of images, there is just so many horror movies I love!)

Here is a video that its sooo halloween-like and I love it. Hope you guys enjoy. And remember, someone's watching.... (buuuu)

Robert Rodriguez

29 Oct 2013

ROBERT RODRIGUEZ

The Fashion Industry is a big one, so its obvious that there are millions of fashion designers out there. Today, thanks to the blogger Sandi Martini and her post "My Fav NYFW 2014 SPRING Ready to wear collection Part 2", I got to meet the LA designer Robert Rodriguez. His spring 2014 collection is beyond amazing. If you want to check it out you can either go to the designer's website http://www.robertrodriguezcollection.com/  or you can also visit Sandi's blog which as well is great! She posted some pictures of Rodriguez's collection http://sandimartini.blogspot.com/.

I automatically fell in love with the pictures so I had to go see it for myself in Rodriguez's website. His other collections are amazing as well! Here are some of the pictures from his Fall 2013 collection. The thing that I love the most is that the style has a bit of a "Rock&Roll" rebel, bad girl effect but at the same time it shows elements of classy and elegancy. The combination of both gives an outcome of pure fashion power!

Delicate issues: Fur Industry.

28 Oct 2013

It's an animal kingdom out there. We are all animals, we eat each other in order to survive. We all form part of the food chain. Our ancient ancestors used to kill animals for food and for clothing. Then why is the Fur Industry such a delicate issue to be discussed?

Humans not only developed and evolved physically throughout the years but our logic and reason, our moral and ethic values as well became strongly associated with the way we think. Therefore we are more connected to what is right and what is wrong. Animals are awesome! They are so cute. I love animals and even after watching those really terrifying videos on slaughterhouses I can't stop eating my South African ribs and steak, but when I'm offered lamb, pig or rabbit (who eats rabbit?!) I cannot eat them. So...eating cow meat is fine but other animal's meat is wrong? I always get caught up on this issue. Trust me, I HATE watching those videos where they show how animals are being killed, who would enjoy them any way? Seriously? But then again, the whole "food chain, animal kingdom" thing. Animals kill each other to survive, and if you've been in a safari and saw a lion kill a zebra, it is not all "soft and delicate", its pretty wild and bloody like situation. They do suffer. They are being killed by lion's teeth! LIONS TEETH! Imagine being dismembered by lion's teeth (sorry for the image I just put in your head).

In the Fur Industry, in the other hand, animals are being killed for fashion purposes, to use them as clothing and to look good on them. An item of luxury. Doesn't it sound a but cruel? A bit selfish? You go and kill a poor animal, take their fur out, make it a clothing item, sell it, and earn profit from it. The customer that bought that fur is now wearing a skin coat of a dead animal. As PETA states in their website "whether it came from an animal on a fur farm or one who was trapped in the wild, every fur coat, trinket, and bit of trim caused an animal tremendous suffering-and took away a life".

When I see the pictures of fur coats, I am not going to lie...they look good.

http://webegirls.com/

But does a dead body of an animal without its skin looks as good too?

As I said, I love ma SA ribs, but I wonder sometimes that maybe we, humans evolved into Homo Sapiens for a reason. We are the only "animals" who can actually use reason and logic. Maybe it wasn't just "because", but maybe we evolved into using our ethical values for a good cause, for protecting the other animals out there. We are aware of what is right and what is wrong. When animals kill each other, the only thing they think is survival.

What are your thoughts about this issue?

"Story of my life" on repeat.

I am supposed so be writing an essay now but guess what I'm doing instead? That's right. Listening to One Direction's new song: "Story of My Life". If you haven't listened yet WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? It's a really great song!! It's very calm and relaxing at the beginning but then in the chorus the beat races a bit but overall it's a very enjoyable song.

I don't consider myself a directioner because I don't really know every single fact about them or anything. I just really like their songs and their voices <3 I knew them way before they were famous. I remember when they performed in Simon Cowell's house the song by Natalie Imbruglia "Torn". Oh-My-God. They sounded like angels. In that moment we all knew they were meant to be! that they should be heard all around the world! which they did. So I'm very proud of them!

If you were living under a rock and hasn't listened to this amazing song, I will give you the honors to:

Saturday Blue Madness

26 Oct 2013

Black and white are very classic "colors", as well as beige or brown. But adding some color from time to time it doesn't hurt anyone. Personally I have to put colors on my OOTD. Its either my shoes, my sunglasses or even my nails, but something has to be colorful. I chose to focus on blue today because blue is such a special and beautiful color. According to research (the internet), the color blue is associated with relaxation, calming situations. That's why facebook, twitter and myspace use blue. Now if you ask me how does that have to do with being calm and using those social medias...well I actually have no idea on what the point is. What I know is that blue also reminds me of the sky, the ocean, water! When I see blue it makes me feel refresh and indeed, calm.

When matching with accessories and clothing items, blue can be a very good color to stand out the whole outfit. Its like its making sure to let people know you are there. So I matched some of my clothing items with the blue things I have. And the result? I love it! It gives the right amount of balance among calling attention and being discrete at the same time.

And since we are talking about blue, water and being fresh. This video is perfect :)

Blog Tag!

25 Oct 2013

And yet, another tag. This one I found from http://happyhourprojects.com/ !  I kind of changed the rules because its so much work and Im feeling a little bit lazy hehe. So the rules of the original were that one blogger had to create 11 questions and tag another blogger. They had to answer the 11 questions and then themselves had to create their own 11 questions and tag other 11 bloggers (does it make sense or Im terrible at explaining?) So Im answering the questions that Adrianne created. By the way, don't forget to check her blog! She has from amazing recipes to incredible DIY's! Thanks Adrianne!

1. If you had to describe yourself in one word, what would it be?

Friendly!

2. What's your guilty pleasure?

Watching series ALL DAY LONG. Right now Im obsessed with Pretty Little Liars!! Who is A?

3. Socks or barefoot?

Socks! ewww barefoot. I hate that word :? foot. Ewww.

4. What's the fastest way to make you mad?

Telling me I'm short -.- Yes, I am aware of that, thank you very much. You don't need to keep reminding me that I'm only 5'0.

5. What's your favorite time of the day?

I actually have two. The first one is very early in the morning, when the sun is not quite yet out. Everyone is sleeping and all the best thoughts have not been taken yet (somebody said this I cannot remember who but its true), it seems that the whole world is sleeping and everything is good and quiet. My second favorite moment is on sundays afternoons like around 5 or 6, when the sun is settling down.

6. What's your most embarrassing moment you dare to share?

I was in the lobby of a hotel in NYC. My dad and mom were checking out while my sister and I were waiting. I usually do this, so I was sitting on one of the luggages. I kind of did a sudden move that the next thing I remember was me on the floor and all people in the lobby laughing at me.

7. Sweet or Salty?

Both! :3 when is about food, just don't make me chose please! :?

8. What's the story about whichever you prefer to share: either your first car, or your first kiss?

I haven't had my first kiss yet nor my first car. I got my driver's license though! But let's pretend I'm Ariel from The Little Mermaid in the scene where she is on the boat with Erik. I love that scene! but wait... they don't get to kiss :/

9. If you could only have one box of craft supplies, what would be in it?

Stickers! lots and lots of them. The 3-D ones! :D

10. What's something you are proud of?

Being part of my family. I love them too much and they make me feel proud.

11. What is the best gift someone could give you?

Food!! <3

Shopaholic Alert.

Im in college which means: FREEDOM!!! and which also means: having your own credit card ;) Don't get me wrong, I am responsible... or am I?  I want to believe I am.

Since Im in Kansas now, I heard that  the weather here gets very cold to the point that snows (yeii! I love cold weather and it will be my first time seeing snow), but I always lived in places that seemed it was summer all year round. So I had to do some shopping for the cold weather. Everything here is kind of far if you don't have a car so what was left to do? ONLINE SHOPPING.

I am not used to do this since I was living in Africa...the shipments do not arrive there, only if you were American then you would receive it in the American Embassy, I think. When I did my first online purchase. O-M-G. It felt like I was Jim Carrey in that movie "Bruce Almighty", I had the power. And when the package arrived. What can I say to describe my feelings at that moment? And when you open that box or bag and see your new stuff. The smell of new, the texture...its like you are in heaven.

I did once. I did twice. Third time. Fourth time. And now I lost count on how many online purchases I made.  One thing I know for sure is that its hard to stop. It turned something very addictive, extremely I will say. Well, its better to be addictive to shopping than drugs and alcohol right? Hope my parents are not reading this but in case they are. Mom, dad, I swear I do my purchases in the "sale" section...most of them. Love you :3 (I still got some balance in my credit card don;t worry, I wont call for more money soon).

Some of the shops that have amazing deals are Charlotte Russe, Wet Seal, Forever 21. But I will say my favorite one is Charlotte Russe. The sales and promotions they have is craaazyyy. Like today they had the promotion if you buy one pair of shoes, the next one will be only $10!! it also applies for dresses. I bought two cute boots and shipment is free from $65 so I was forced to add some more stuff. Otherwise I would had to pay shipment which was like $10 more. When I finished my purchase I went to the bag section. Thankfully I already paid or I would have bought one of those lovely unnecessary bags. But that was not it! I did some purchases from Clarins, Claire's and The Body Shop. Oh! also H&M.

I feel guilty now. (But when my packages arrive, I wont' feel guilty :D )

Here are some of the things I bought previously:

Busy days... what to do with them.

24 Oct 2013

We all have those days in which we have absolutely nothing to do and really, nothing happens. Not even the neighbor's dog barking like crazy. But then we have those days that we just have SO much stuff going on, and in addition to that people just want to reach you, either to go grab a coffee or go to the movies. Why didn't you ask last time when I had nothing to do?

Then we start to get really worried, anxious and desperate. You have so much stuff going on that you don't even know where to start. Here are some tips in what to do with those type of "dark" busy days:

First of all, keep calm and do not stress. I know its really easy to say, but thats the best first thing you can do. If you stress too much its not healthy and it wont get you anywhere, to the contrary, it will make you lose more time.

Make a "to do" listIf you are not very organized and tend to forget things, I strongly encourage you to have  a "to do" list since it will keep you in track and it just feels A-M-A-Z-I-N-G when you get to cross out one of those tasks.

♥ Do not procrastinateHaving a "to do list" really helps for this one since you feel more motivated. I know sometimes is very hard to get out from the procrastination world but it will give you more stress at the end of the day when you realize you have not accomplished anything. So stop what you are doing now and go start that project or whatever you have to do. Just start and keep going.

♥ Breath. Do not forget to breath. (Well duh, otherwise we would die), but I mean breath in the sense of YOU controlling it, being aware of it. Use some techniques that will help you for a better control. It will make you feel more relaxed and ready to start and face the busy day.

Have a positive mind and believe you will make it. It might seem that it will be a looong day or week since you have so much stuff to do but guess what? It will eventually end. So instead of thinking how busy the day/week will be, and how stressful and annoying it might be, just keep a positive mindset and believe that you will make it through. Put a smile on gurl! :D

Reward yourself. When you are done, you should feel proud of yourself! You just made it through a busy day! Therefore you deserve it. Go have fun with friends! Go outside and enjoy the breath and the beautiful sky, do whatever you like!

It is certainly not easy but it is also not impossible. So good luck in your busy days!
